This project reveals aspects of the relationship between technology and humanity, which have a profound impact on our contemporary culture. Since the 20th century, technology has played a pivotal role in our society, and with the development of technology, the ways that memories exist and are preserved has experienced a great revolution. With the internet and smartphones, people have more accessibility of their memories compared to other generations. However with all the convenience, these current methods of capturing memories lacks ritual and sacredness, and I have personally found the meaning of memories has been depreciated. 

My project BooHoo is a film installation that hosts a memory memorial using technology in order to discover a new relationship between technology and human memories. Based on my personal memories, I used crying as a ritual, and tears as the tribute to the memory memorial. The installation is a crying machine that can “cry” when it detected scenes that are similar to the memories I have programmed into it. When a similarity between the existing memories and the new stimulus appears higher than 60%, the machine will respond by crying, as an expression of memorialising my memories. The tears as the tribute in this memory memorial are used to raise a goldfish, based on the famous rumour that goldfish can only remember seven seconds of life. I made a film with my memories from my human perspective; by involving my precious personal memories and displaying this memory ritual hosted by technology, this project created an immersive environment for the audience, which can allow them to think of themselves in this way, and open the conversation of other possibilities of how technology has impacted aspects of humanity.

The Covid-19 pandemic has great concerns over safety from various perspectives ranging from political
governance, confidence in communications, supply lines and business models to human resilience. The
Grand Challenge project is a reaction to the current issue; it challenged designers to develop new strategic
and applied thinking to tackle complex future problems relating to people and the environment. (RCA Grand
Challenge 2020/21: Design For Safety.)

						
Neo-Wellbeing is a reflection of the current Covid-19 situation when our dependency on technology has been
accelerated. As a group, we combined next generation interaction and health, we focused on the impact of
the next interaction on human health. As interaction has been aggressively digitalised, it has played a even
more crucial role in our lives during the lockdowns, Statistic shows the most popular activity of people in
lockdown is watching TV or streaming videos, the way we work or study from home is also highly dependent
on technology. Although new interaction technology has brought great opportunities, the side effect of
technology is endangering our safety, for instance teleworking is providing efficiency and profit while
neglecting individual mental health. Neo-Wellbeing concerns safety issues with mental health brought about
by efficiency driven technology. We asked ourselves, as a group of designers, what can we do to ensure safety
during ongoing developments?

					
We ultimately presented a speculative dystopian narrative: we illustrated a world in 2040-2050 in which this
trend kept developing, and eventually workers started to accept technological implants in order to improve
efficiency. First, we transformed our timeline into a short film, to better bring the audience into the
speculative future. Second, our narratives are presented on a community website, in the forms of fake news,
manifestos, forums, and more, each with their own meaning. At the end, instead of showing this to the public
as a website, we conducted a role-play film to give the audience an immersive experience. In conclusion, the
way we cared for safety in this project was through speculating an unsafe future narrative, aiming to raise
awareness and discussion around safety concerns related to technology.

During this project, in order to explore and understand the action and definition of escape, I designed a life randomizer to run my life for me. For the location, I designed a roulette of London that separated by longitude and latitude which can locate me at anywhere in London.  For the activities and objects, I use the number randomizer app and dictionary.&#38;nbsp; In order to escape not from any specific thing but experience it. By performed tasks according to the system, I found such possibilities and romance in the randomness.

In this project, I focused on research IKEA as the well-known furniture brand,&#38;nbsp;and the cognitive bias called “IKEA effect” in which consumers place a disproportionately high value of&#38;nbsp;the product that they invested more labor in, people will easily fall&#38;nbsp;in love with the IKEA furniture that they assemble and install themselves.

The price is low for IKEA products largely because they take labor out of the equation, the products IKEA is selling is actually materials and instructions for consumers to&#38;nbsp;assemble. 
This project sees IKEA as a material lab, a Lego factory in furniture. I created an IKEA &#38;nbsp;game, which is a game set that contains with random pieces of materials, it aims to invite people to play with IKEA products as building blocks by challenging them if they&#38;nbsp;can build anything with it. And by participating in this game, people are also experiencing the IKEA effect in a &#38;nbsp;more honest way.

Dear
 Home is an interactive Project that using design as an agency to 
transform people’s different ideas of home into lively videos. By doing 
so, we aim to highlight the difference between homelessness and 
houselessness, emphasizing the importance of feeling at home rather than
 merely living in a house.


Through
 street interviews, we collect lots of people’s drawings of their ideal 
homes using our designed template. After that, we collect all these 
drawings into a booklet of ideal homes as a lovely record for all those 
street interviews.


The
 website serves as a platform that not only shares our videos of idea 
homes to people who are interested, but also continually collecting 
drawings of ideal homes and transforming them into videos as feedback to
 the participants.

This project focused on the material called Plastiglomerate——the very first natural material that created by human. The natural sedimentary grains and organic debris are agglutinated by melted plastic created by the campfire burning, after the mixing, plastiglomerate will not vanish as rocks nor deposited as plastics.It has the potentiality to last forever. It is becoming a permanent marker in Earth’s geologic record, and the future fossil that records the period of time when humans began to leave significant and losing impact on the planet’s landscape and atmosphere.
We are deeply connected to the things that surround us, they augment our existence, and are entangle to our everyday lives. This practical project critically unpacks, discover, explore and play with these complex network of entanglement. Based on the eternity factor of plastiglomerate, this project as a theoretical workshop would introduce plastiglomerate to the public as an everlasting material, and invite people to send me photo of their precious memory, then melt their photos into a stone with plastic to make a piece of plastiglomerate and give it back to people ironically as a souvenir. Though this workshop I created the sense of hundred years later these souvenir has lived long past their owner carrying their memories that no one remembered anymore. &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;

This project is about the design of research, it sees research as not just information or knowledge of a subject but also an outcome. By researching and present it as a result in a different form, it actively builds empathy for and with the elevator enthusiast and their community.

 
As design students, we want to understand the passion of the people we seeding for. We visualized our research based on our understanding and consideration from getting to know the elevator community and their journey. In this video, we create an atmosphere by visualizing their experience to help the viewer understand the passion and have empathy for it as well.
